How to Apply
To apply for a 2021 scholarship, please submit the following information, as stated below in a letter to the UMW Scholarship committee:
-Current educational status. If applying for years 2-4 of the scholarship, please submit transcript/documentation detailing completion of classes attended the previous year. High school seniors should submit a current High School transcript.
-Career plans and need for further education.
-Employment history if currently employed or employed in the past 12 months.
-Activities in your CURRENT school setting. If high school graduate, only include activities in which you are involved at your postsecondary institution.
-Church participation and length of attendance. Applicants must be current members and have attended services at our church or volunteered at one of our community outreach programs, such as The Free Store or Community Kitchen (AKA Rainbow Table), at least twice in the last 9 months. Please provide this information to the committee.
Please include two letters of reference. High school seniors must have one letter from a teacher or advisor from their High School. If high school graduate, one letter must be from a professor, instructor, or advisor at your postsecondary institution. Current letters of reference are necessary for consideration of your 2021 application.
Your letter of application, transcript and your two letters of reference must be emailed to [email protected] by 4:00 PM Friday, May 7, 2021.
A selection committee will review the applications and recipients will be notified on or before May 15, 2021. Formal presentation of the scholarship awards will be on Sunday, May 30, 2021. It is hoped that recipients will be able to attend the combined worship service at 10:00 AM to be honored in person and receive their scholarship.
